Weekend Report

29 Aug 2023 by Matthew Hardman

The top of the table clash between Hindley St. Peter’s 1st XI and Flixton was a victim of the weather on Saturday, as heavy overnight rain and a further downpour in the morning left the ground saturated and put paid to any prospects of play.

The 2nd XI did manage to get a game in away to Whalley Range and came away with the points. The home side batted first but had no answer to the HSP bowlers. Adeel Hanif bowled ten overs and took three wickets for just eight runs, while Sabhat Zahid took 3-15 from his ten and Mark Hardman also chipped in with 2-6 as Whalley Range were bowled out for just 41.

HSP made short work of their DLS-adjusted target of 37, getting there in only 5.4 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Next Saturday the 1st XI are away to Swinton Moorside. The 2nd XI have no match.
